Hello Gents, for the last couple of weeks I have been playing with my new Merkel 141E in 8x57 JRS. This is as some of you already aware of the most recent adding to the Merkel line of DG. As it's based on a 28 cal action it's only chambered in chamberings up to and including 9.3x74R. To my knowledge this is the first DG with barrells that's manually adjustable both in the horizontal and vertical plane (without any real regulation as in soldering ![]() And I must say that I'm really impressed! When I bought the gun it was regulated for 196 grain bulets at 2300 fps, which it shoot very accurately (6 bullets at about 2MOA at 100m).But when I loaded the 196 grain bullets to 2450 fps each barrel still produced good groups ( about 1-1.25 MOA) but the where crossing with about 5 inches and the right barrell printed about 1.5 inches high. After some tweaking I have been able to get the groups down to under 2 MOA at 100m ![]() This is my first experience with adjustable barrells (or muzzles), but previously I have seen a lot of people on the net saying that "adjustable barrells is not a good idea" and that they probably will be shoot loose over time and so on. What is your opinion and what kind of experiences do you have of this thing? Best regards, Henrik |
