I found that shooting my 12 pound .577 VSRE (same ballistics as the .577NE) was easier than 8.75 pound .505 SRE (same ballistics as the .500 NE), but that I had to step back two steps each time I fired it, something not always possible in the game field, so I never used it as a hunting rifle.
