Look just up above & ahead of the lock's screw slot in the bottom picture. Then look at the same area on the other side of the action.
The cracks are evident and easily seen(on my 24"monitor). In the bottom picture, there is actually a small piece of metal missing in the crack - which likely means a multi-fracture in the metal.
