I've seen these rifles in weights ranging from too light to too heavy. So weight is not an issue, somewhere out there is what ever weight you desire.

A guy here locally has a DR chambered for 22 LR.

The brits made plenty of small DR's. there are a larger number of chamberings using big cases behind bores from 24 to 30 caliber. Such as the 275 H&H on the 375 case. Such cartridges were designed for high velocity long range work, such as stag in Scotland. They would be ducky for elk in the westren US.

Doubles are for game, magazine rifles were meant for the trenches.
