I had one in the '70's. I dug through the in the old records and found some information. It was a HD drop lock, as I recall with a hinged floorplate. Wt is listed as 11.5#, but don't show if that is with or without the scope. I'm thinking without, but not sure. It was made for a lady in India of royality, but forget which state. The forend was set up for a spotlight attachment for night shooting. The factory 'scope and rings were gone. Gene Clark of New Orleans Arms made new mounts and fitted a Lyman Alaskan 'scope for me. Rifle made in 1920 as per WR, #17656. I show 25" barrels. Auto ejectors. Never had a failure. Also made cases from .404's. Left the rim full diameter and just cout the groove to .425 diameter. This gave the ejectors a lot more bit on the case. It shot very well with the right load. I still have some steel jacketed Kynoch bullets in the garage. I sold the rifle to Champlin in about '80. It surfaced again in Bill Feldstein's auction of some firearms 4-5 years ago. If I recall correctly the forearm had been replaced in the interviening years after '80, but not sure on that. Seem to remember reading that in the lot description. Is it the same rifle? It hasn't been too long ago I saw a fixed lock WR in .425 for sale someplace, maybe WR. |
