Was watching "Legends of the Fall" and in it Tristan (Brad Pitt) has a stint of ivory hunting just after WW1.

He is shown carrying a large bore double and wearing a bandoleer of lead tipped large rimmed case ammo. Looks like a black powder round of some sort to me.

A challenge to our experts. What was it?
