In reply to: TerryR - I don't know how many DRs you've owned, but you've learned a valuable lesson - they can be finicky! Again, as soon as my digital camera is back up and running I'll post for you some examples of just how finicky they can be. Case in point, last weekend i tried two different loads in one of mine... The first load made two nice groups of about 1.5" each at 50-yards (open sighted.) Problem was, the left barrel grouped about 4" higher than the right barrel! The second load tested had all of the EXACT same components (from the same lot #s of ALL components)... the difference was that it had .5gr more powder than the first. This brought the left group down directly on top of the right barrel. Yes, .5gr of powder moved the POI by @2". I fired an 8-shot group to confirm the results, and the overall group was @2.5". Again, that's 8-shots, open-sighted at 50-yards. So that's just one example of how finicky DRs can be. I can relate to your frustration. The best advice (as I'm sure you know) is to find out what it was regulated with and get some of that ammo. Chronograph those factory loads and use that data as your starting point. |
