All my other doubles are sighted for the centre of the bead, which I much prefer, though I recall mention of the former sight-picture on a previous NE thread.

As you well know, my Jeffrey with the current load is shooting at least six inches high at 50 yards. The rifle 'regulates' well enough like this in terms of the left and right barrel. Very similar to your Manton.

Haven't tried other loads (different powder) but have to do some catch-up this week.

The bead also needs 'replacing' as there isn't one.

I don't know the intentions of how the original makers setup up the sights to shoot though.
