I totally agree about shooting a Big Bore before buying.

Didn't some Merkel 470's come with a Hog back stock ?
Mine has a straight stock which makes a big difference.

Re th target and POI, I use the top or Bottom of the Black
as the aiming point. I put a White sticker at the 6 and 12
which alows me to get 2 groups on the one target, PLUS I find
it alot easier to get the same sight picture all of the time.

I find it is not as easy to hold a consistent sight picture
in the centre of the black 8" circle.
