The straight hand stock was designed
to allow recoil to reposition the
the hand (finger) for a second trigger.
The straight porition allowed the stock
to slip through the hand. This why the
finger was repositioned. Some stock
makers use a reach for the front trigger
approach. The reach methoed on a pistol
grip is what I prefer for double rifles. Shotguns
are where the straight stocks belong.
