500 I had already dated the rifle by serial number through H&H in London and found out the original owner and obtained a copy of the original order listing the original owner. After the blow out I notified them and got pricing to replace the barrels. I could buy another double for what they wanted. During that process I asked if they had any knowledge of barrels bursting related to any particular time period i.e. before WW1 versus after. They said their records did not show any pattern but it had happened on a sporadic basis. Lifetime guarantee on almost a 100 year old gun where I did not purchase it from Holland, I wish. But thats why I like doing business with George, because he WILL stand behind what he sells. There are a whole lot of double gun owners out there, hopefully someone can divise a way to test these vintage barrels so we would know what we are dealing with before we shoot them. CFA |
