I have fired precisely one shot out my 7x65r combination gun at driven game. It was at a large sow that appeared 30 yards from out of a last strip of a field of rape being harvested and surrounded by a team of rifles. The sow was followed by two piglets - next door gun shot these two - he was using a blazer, but it sounded like a semi auto. The sowwas hanging around and took off across the field. I swung through as if it was a low flying pheasant and squeezed and not sure who was more surprised as it bolled over like a rabbit, shot through the boiler room with a 173gn ID classic bullet. 100% hit rate on running pigs. I had a slug in the top barrel as backup, but these do shoot 8" high so am having a liner barrel made in 7x65r to turn it into a double for when I go driven hunting again. |
