Bill, If the gun had 28" barrels I'd maybe consider shortening them but 25 1/2" is really a nice length. Barrel heavyness can usually be corrected by CAREFULL weighting of the butstock with lead. A "quick fix" is to use an elastic cartridge carrier which fits on the butstock and when filled with rounds tends to shift the balance rearward. Personally I hate those things though! I recently brought the balance back a little on my 470 by weighting the stock and the gun now balances perfectly for me but was always a little barrel heavy before this was done. Stock weighting is far cheaper than barrel shortening and it really doesn't alter the originality of the metalwork and is completely hidden from view. ![]() |
