Traditional engraving is lovely and often perfect. I too would have a Holland & Holland or Purdey with traditional engraving, what else would one choose. Verney-Carrons, like this one, are one offs, not the same as the dozen other rifles to come out of the English maker that year or more. Based on original artwork, the engraving is designed to tell a story. In this case, hunting and the wildlife of the Big Five. Like the earlier Cape Buffalo L'Atelier Bespoke double rifle, I would jump at one of these in I could. I particularly like the "Elephant walk" on the trigger guard and grip strap. |
