Quote: Many thanks for the thought. Seemingly Roberts is not able to help any longer. I am still trying to get a response from the principals who supposedly hold the Jeffery records; now have a line on another name associated with Mr. Friedkin and the current W J Jeffery business based in Boulder, Colorado. We shall see. It is unfortunate that these records are so closely held and difficult to access. Finally took delivery of the .577 last week and it is a beauty, nice solid working rifle in little used condition. Barrels reblacked as one might expect, with an updated Silvers type recoil pad. Case colors are faded but about 70-80% outside and very bright on the inside and protected areas. Checkering has not been messed with. Best estimate now is it was made in 1894. Will post a couple of pictures and better description when I'm back in the country after work. - Mike |
