Re: Is 9.3x62 minimium for nitro class 1 ?

Unfortunately in Australia the official rules state:
"Ammunition is to be as close as practical to factory ballistics of the original ammunition..."

...so juicing up an inadequate factory-load to sneak over the 2900 ftlbs energy level is technically illegal for competition.

The .444 Marlin makes it with the 240gr bullet though....

Quote:

Remington originally factory loaded the 444 Marlin with a 240 grain soft point bullet to 2,400 feet per second with 3,070 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle of a 24 inch barrel. Today Remington offers a soft point bullet with a ballistic coefficient of .146 loaded to a velocity of 2,350 feet per second with 2,942 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle of a 24" rifle barrel.

However like LesLeeSpeed I recommend the .318 WR for traditional reasons and the .338-06 in bolt-action rifles for practical reasons.
