Re: Searcy .577 NE

In reply to:

Well with the help of 500 grains I finally got in.
First Mickey, you wouldn't buy a Searcy rifle anyhow, so your statement is nothing more than inflammatory.
I did do some research on this rifle. After consulting with Cabela's they informed me that the rifle was sold in Jan. 2000 and returned in May of same yr. I'm assuming this was Butchloc. When he returned it he never told Cabela's that there was any problem's with the rifle. If he had of they would have sent it back to me. This rifle was sold and traded in twice more over the last few yrs. Never once did anyone complain of a problem. Just about two months ago Cabela's sold it again. The new owner called me about two weeks ago and told me that he was having ignition problems occasionlly with the right barrel. I told him that the mainspring might have weekened, and that if he wished to send it back I would fix it. Never was there any mention of doubling. I got the rifle back and replaced both mainsprings with stronger one's that I use know. Also the sears and there springs and left firing pin spring was replaced at no charge to the customer. Now before I go any further it was very obvious this rifle had had allot of work done to it over the yrs by someone else other than me. Now I will be the first to admit that there is rifles out there I made yrs ago that I'd like to get back. I have always stood behind my work, and I can't do anymore than that. And the rifes I'm currently making are light yrs. better than they were just a yr.ago. And I will quit when I see no room for improvement. I currently make the best double on the market anywhere for the money. That being said I know Mickey and others of his same persuasion are just shaking their heads.

As I've said many times before, if you want the facts, call Butch, he will tell you like it is, good, or bad!

I have a sneaking suspicion the troubled 470NE here is one, that a fellow had a while back, and instead of investigateing the problem of the doubleing, or sending it back to Butch, he had a so-called gun smith do a little "PLUMBING" on the rifle, and really screwed it up good! Then the guy really bad mouthed Butch on the net, just like the new guy who owned it and reported on it here, also is bad mouthing Butch again, instead of talking to Searcy about the rifle takes the "USED", and "ABUSED" double back to Cabella's and says nothing except he doesn't like it. Cabella's did what the origenal owner should have, send it back to Butch for a proper fix!

Gentlemen, anything can be destroyed, given enough ignorance, effort, and a shade tree "PLUMBER" gun smith, with a big hammer!
