Re: Searcy .577 NE

IMHO, I think before any more blame gets put on Searcy Double rifles, we need the full story.

Although I haven't held/shota Searcy, experienced people I have spoken to say they are well made working guns.
Consider this. Butch has obviously made heaps of double Rifles and we hear of 2 or so that double.
1. It is unlikely that Searcy would make a gun that does this.
2. From my experience except where a gun has turned out to have worn or modified sears,
it is often the shooter who somehow touches the Rear trigger.
3. Do we know whether the owners of these guns have had the sears modified so as to have a lighter
trigger ?

Have the owners gone through the sequence of tricks to see whether it is them or the gun:-
1. pull rear trigger first is the obvious one,
2. load a live round in Right barrel, Primer only cartridge in Left barrel and then see if it doubles on firing.
