Bonanza is correct. The user manual mentions this issue and states that after a couple hundred rounds the action should work in and not be so tight to close.

My .500NE was really tight to close, but after several hundred rounds it is much smoother. To work it in I wasn't bashful about closing it right smartly - something I would never do with a vintage rifle.
