Target shooting with your doubles & big bores

There is a number of double rifle target shooting clubs and competitions.

Most to me seem to shoot those silly paper competition targets, eg circular with numbered circles.

Is this your experience? What competition do you shoot in, or have shot in? Was it casual or an 'organised' discipline?

Personally shooting a bunch of numbered circles does absolutely NOTHING for me. I like to hunt with my rifles and prefer to shoot game targets. Photos or cut-outs of a deer, or pig, or buffalo.

Afterall that is what "Big Game" hunting is about isn't it?! Not shooting a black and white numbered circle so as to work out who gets the most "points" or not. I like the game targets where points are allocated for a definite kill zone, less for a wound zone, and maybe even negative points for wounding areas like the gut. Perhaps a short run up to get the lungs and heart pumping.

Running targets are great fun too.

A must for big bore doubles, the charging target!
