How does the ammo not fall out if upside down ?

Either way, doesn't worry me as I have so many
ammo carriers I won't be getting any more.

Like you, I often have one on the RHS in the same location
although I tend to put the covered one on the RHS so if for
any reason the gun and ammo holder come together it doesn't
scratch the stock.

Whatever works for you I guess, once you have a system
you work to, best to stick with it of it works.
