Re: Death by Double rifle

I was given a copy of "DBDR". I too thought it was the best double rifle hunting video I had seen. It wasn't perfect, but hey which ones are?

I most certainly thought that they did not exploit wounded animals the way Sullivan seems to do.

Having said that, the best hunting video I have ever seen is the hippo charge from Sullivan's "Death on the Run" (I think that is the title?). That Hippo could have gone anywhere out of that pool where they found him. He wasn't wounded, he was just pissed off. He left the pool quatering away from the hunters. After he cleared the pool he came back toward the guys who had disturbed him. He was coming to kick those guys asses!

The client, can't remember his name, stands his ground, hits the hippo with a round out of his, I think 450/400 3 inch. The bullets impact is clearly visable in the footage, However, the bullet misses the brain. The hippo, just dips to his right a bit at the shot, and keeps on coming. Sullivan settles it with the 600 NE he is carrying. The hippo falls within 3-5 feet of the client with a resounding PLOP/THUD.

Coming down from that adrenalin rush must have been like fallen off a cliff! Yikes!
