The French ballistics expert Joseph Messner developed the .375 R Verney-Carron for Verney-Carron. Messner did not use any parent case but designed the cartridge on the drawing board. It was important for the case to be dimensioned so that the chamber easily wear out .375 Holland & Holland or .375 H & H Flanged. All measurements had thus be greater. Moderately performance within the range of .378 Weath. Mag, .416 Rigby or .404 Jeffery.
The rimless version is .375 Verney-Carron.

I also found the specs for the 375R VC listed in Quick Load.
It's quite a large case at 122gr H2O capacity vs 94gr for the 375 FL Mag Holland cartridge.
Looks as though they may have started with 450 basic cylinder brass?
