When standing in knee deep water and mud, with more of it from 80 metres to a couple of kilometres around us, I found a nice wide sling on a heavy double rifle quite handy.

Handy for hanging the rifle onto a tree when cutting up the buff.

Handy for carrying the rifle back when dragging the cape back and also carrying out other gear.

Handying for not falling face first into the mud and water when stepping into unexpected deeper holes in the wetlands.

Very handy.
