Re: 8x57JR regulated with Norma, shot with S&B??

Quote:

has anyone had experience with their double rifle chambered in 8x57 JR that is regulated for Norma, or RWS and shot with Sellier & Bellot ammunition. I am curious how close S&B shoots in your guns that are regulated to the Norma or RWS? I know they aren’t exactly the same but in a pinch, how well does the S&B do. And what about bullet performance on game? I have heard mixed reviews of S&B bullet performance so I am looking for first hand accounts of good/bad.

For the foreseeable future I will not be reloading for the rifle. I have lots of other rifles to shoot whatever in. In researching availability of Norma 8x57JR ammo, there doesn’t appear to be any on the market,. at least with the distributors I normally use. I checked my distributors and no Norma 8x57JR and all that seems to be out there is the S&B.
who do you use for source of loaded Norma 8x57JR?

I'm woundering if this is a newly manufactured double rifle chambered for 8X57JR (.318 bullet diameter) If not new and is truley a 8X57JR where did you get it and who made it?

If it is an 8X57 JRS (.323 dia) then the JR (.318 dia) ammo will likely not shoot very well in it. If it is a JR bore you certainly do not want to shoot the S&B JRS (.323)ammo in it.

I've several 8X57JR cape guns, double rifles and O/U combination guns, and I have never had an 8X57JR that S&B 196 gr soft point 8X57JR ammo did not shoot very well in them.

I have a H. Barella back action side lock hammer cape gun with a 16 ga on the left, and 8X57JR on the right. The rifle side prints dead on the sights at 100 yds, and a Brenneke classic slug will print right beside the rifle also at 100 yds, with my hand loaded rifle ammo, or S&B 196gr bullet factory ammo.

If everything is correct, S&B ammo is not only cheap. but is very good ammo.
