A 150gr. bonded bullet was used this year on moose, elk, black bear, whitetail and mule deer by a friend of mine of 34 years - with EXCEPTIONAL results on all species. The muzzle velocity was approximately 2,760fps - or what could be managed by a maximum load from most .303's with a good bullet. The maximum range fired at, was just over 400yards, and just happened to be the elk. He was shot through the spine as my friend held a bit high. The result, of course, was that the elk dropped in his tracks. No animal walked more than a few steps. To make a .30 or .303 calibre bullet sufficient in NA for literally all game, merely takes good shooting & a decent bullet.
