ALAN_MCKENZIE, If there is one thing I am crazy about, it is photographing guns. At your request, here is a shot of an original sling, with the very nice hook, all from 1891 and originating with my James Woodward & Sons .450/400 3.25" Nitro Express double rifle. All of this resides in its original oak & leather case. The Woodward lies in the background! This one has a spring-loaded catch, much like the fastener on a lady's necklace. It is unlike the hooks now available from Jeff's Outfitters. I beg to differ with Mickey. Sling hooks and eyes are very much an English amenity. I don't think of them being American at all. For dimensions, the sling is one inch wide. I hope this sheds some light on the subject. "A picture is worth a thousand words." Best regards, CptCurl |
