As a matter of fact, I had a double discharge with my buddy's .500 NE the day before yesterday! My cheek is still sore. I'm not sure whether it was mechanical error or operator error. We have been shooting our .500's hundreds of times since April, and this is the first such occurrence. The rifle did fine after mauling me. Probably tapped the rear trigger during recoil. His stock is a bit shorter than mine, so mounts differently. I had a 12 ga. shotter that would double on the rear trigger. I learned it when shooting sporting clays one day. The position called for a distant shot first and a close rise on the report of the first shot. I got it fixed, no problem. I read about NitroX's buff hunt. Why is it that your rifle will perform flawlessly until the moment of truth? I sure would like to do a hunt like that! CptCurl |
