Ray: Ditto on the rimless chamberings, why do it? ..there are so many great rimmed or flanged cartridges around. Athough some Aussies have bought Searcys, they are not as attractive an option over here because of the lousy currency exchange rate (although it is getting slowly better!) We can buy Merkels and Kreighoffs significantly cheaper than you guys (in relative terms), and there are still a few bargains to be had in used Brit doubles. My recently-acquired Manton .470, for example, cost me considerably less than a plain-grade Searcy would have, it is just as accurate, and has excellent bores, pretty-good medium scroll engraving and better wood. ..cased with trade label, and came with dies, cases, a hundred Woodleighs, etc. BTW, just how much beer IS Butch buying you, Ray! |
