Before cutting that stock to achieve the same length of pull that exists now, you should first determine what length of pull is needed to suit YOU!
Once it's cut off you can't put it back. Well you can, but it will look terrible!

Correct length of pull is critical regarding the way a double will handle.

Fitting a pad now gives you the chance to adjust the length of pull to your requirements.
