Plus; It has the cocking safety. Pushing the safety forward hard cocks the gun. Better have a strong thumb. I've owned two. First one, 500/416, wouldn't chamber anything in the right barrel except WR ammo. The rim cut on that barrel was too shallow to take SAAMI ammo. Then, after the factory screwed around with me for months, the ammo fit, however the forearm cracked in half after 8 rounds. I sent it back and they sent me a 470. It was MUCH better. The barrels crossed at 25 yards, and the right barrel printed seven inches to the left of the left barrel. I took it to a gunsmith and he regulated the barrels to hold three inches at 50 yards. He said that's about as good as they shoot! Ok, I'll live with that. Back to the range. Third shot. As I set the gun down I noticed a slight line on the buttstock. Yuuup, a crack. Sure, I'll just fix it again and trust it implicitly while hunting Cape Buffalo in Botswana. Back to the dealer for a full refund. Oh, what'd I end up using? Ruger #1 in 458 Lott. Worked as advertised. Still works. I've taken two Cape buffalo, a Kudu, a warthog, a lechwe (with a solid), and a California wild hog. One shot and thump-on-the-ground. I've also got a #1 in 450 NE. But that will probably be in classified fairly soon. |
