The link "Skirmishers and Vision Problems" has good information on what is going on with aging eyes and iron sights. It mentions the Clearsight Optical auxiliary lens which clips on to a pair of eye glasses to sharpen iron sights. I have found it to help with revolver shooting and it should help with rifle sights too. Don't know how practical it would be for hunting but it helps on the target range.
