Re: Pedersoli Kodiak - 9.3x74R vs 45/70 for Buffalo

The 45/70 gets great penetration, and has a very flat trajectory

I would buy the 9.3x74mmR if it was me and intended to use it as is.

Some guys in the USA have re-chambered the .45/70 Pedersolis to .450 No 2 NE which would be great if someone could do it here, you were happy the pressure was OK and willing to take a risk on regulation problems after re-chambering. I gave it some thought. It would be your call.

Personally I wouldn't like a .45/70 on water buffalo and the outfitter I used said they do not allow them. No doubt they will kill a buffalo in the right circumstances.

A Pedersoli costs about A$4500 in Oz. You might be lucky and get a good vintage British .450/400 for about A$7000 if you looked long enough.

A few more ideas to mull over. Good luck. Hope you find a double to have fun with.
