Actually shooting one of these guns, in bold blood on paper, kinda makes Greener's 8 bore 'pattern' look 1/2 ways decent, doesn't it.

Almost looks like my little 14 bore has similar recoil. I was aiming quite level when the rifle went off. I was only shooting 6 drams (164gr.BP) with 480gr. ball. Rifle weighs a mere 9 1/2 pounds. This gun doesn't hurt me due to the slightly 'slower' recoil - although I fear much more powder would. I've shot 875gr. slugs with 140gr. powder when a kid (1986

) didn't like that at all.

I'd surely like to shoot a .577 2 3/4" some day - at least one shot.
