Lubrication is not the only thing that is needed to protect the integrity of the hook, and lock-up mating surfaces in a double rifle! The SHOCK LOAD protection is far more important in the protection against off face condition developing! This is something that is not present in most common greases!

MILITEC-1 is a little pricey but was developed for military use in climates from swamp/ rain forest to desert dust conditions. It can be had in little ½ Oz tubes like tooth paste that can be carried in a shirt pocket. I have a tube of it in every fitted case for all my double rifles and shotguns!
