Mickey, I'm not sure if this technique extends the pins but rather eases the tension off of them without dry firing. Same as squeezing the trigger and slowly closing the bolt on a bolt action rifle. I'll check it out to see if the pins ever extend in the process and report back, but I don't think they do.

PS. Just checked. The pins never extend. They just end up without spring tension on them.
