Kamilaroi "I don't know the patant year of the RBRB but only that side-pedals seem to have had a short period of favouritism (apt from on Fraser FBs) but lent themselves to use on guns with driven game and reloaders adjacent. " 1879 was the patent year by Thomas Bissell. The Patent No. was 1141. I have never followed the "Use No" but it would be interesting to see what the Use No's" got up to. Side Pedals - I think Stephen Grant's use of them showed when they were in favour and not. Side levers lasted longer than the RBRB !!! I would have thought that the use of a side lever on a RBRB Double was very much customer order ????? It would be interesting to see what the records say. These were not "cheap" guns and in view of the fact that Top levers were the order of the day for 99.9% of gun made, I just can't see Rigby making a side lever DR for anything but a customer order. After all, I believe the cost of making the RBRB action was one of the reasons they stopped making it and went to Webley Screw Grip Sidelocks (and probably some other one's as well). . |
