Re: Cost of older rifles in todays money ?

According to the 1910 Holland catalouge on this site, a Royal double rifle cost 75 guineas.

In 1910 that was about 78.75 pounds or the equivalent of 393.75 american dollars.

In 1910 the average american income was $750.00 a year. so buying a H&H royal would cost the average american about 52% of his yearly income...

In 2010 the Average american income is $46,000.00 per year. (ahh, inflation!)

So, all things being equal, a H&H royal should cost around $24,000.00.

However - much has changed between 1910 and now, and there are many factors that contribute to the incredibly exponential price increase of a modern H&H royal...
