Re: Which gun case?

Hi John,

It really depends if you want to show your rifle in it's "Old World" charm when you open up the Pelican Case. I agree about the foam aspect. In my opinion the foam supplied in the case leaves a lot to be desired so I got onto a high density foam in 3 thicknesses, Lid, Base and Cutout this way I only have to modify the center piece to whatever rifle configuration I want to take as this foam is machinable, I just used a jigsaw.

The current configuration is for "Father & Son" and the 2 S&B scopes in the cutout's and in the "Base" foam I inlet the shooting sticks and cleaning gear and all up is 22kg including the case which is under the required maximum weight.

I have been playing with this weight problem and am considering taking the 2 scopes as "Carry On" along with the Cameras & Binoculars as I can have 2 x 7kg bags as "Carry On" which saves about 3kg in scopes and mounts in the "Checked" baggage and I will then pre purchase another 10kg and the Pelican will only be 20kg and still leaves room for "Gifts" on the way back as I will leave the ammo with is 3.2kg

If you need this type of foam for yourself, I will look up what they call it and send the details to you.

Cheers for now,

Jeff Gray
