Re: I shot my new Merkel 141E this weekend

Hi Carpediem,

Congratulations, it is always nice to have a new toy.

I am also glad that you will be taking your wife deer and mouse hunting, I could never talk mine into it and also divorce comes at a hefty price..... Just joking.....

Firstly, I was always told that in both the .375H&H and the .450 N.E. 3.25" to use ONLY Magnum Primers and as from your results, it proves the case. You are lucky to have a rifle that will digest "Other" weight projectiles which is a big plus.

Now for the scope and mounts, I also went with the Leupold 1-4x20 with the illuminated "Dot" and wound back to 1 power, you can shoot with both eyes open (if you want) and have an easy to find spot as the aiming mark.

With regards to the mounts, did yours come with the bases installed ?? some do, some don't and if you are lucky to have them mounted, Recknagel is what they are made for. A photo of the rear of the action would help. I went with the "H7" lever on the rear mount ( a small lever ) so I suggest you have a look at the Recknagel website and download their catalogue.

I'm not sure if they will send them to you over the boarder but NECG is the American agent for Recknagel and if that fails check into Importing them and if you are allowed without to much B.S. I will get onto the Australian Agent but there is a postage cost which would be more as it is further to travel.

As for the front site, I am at at the moment waiting on 3 from Recknagel for my Brno 602, well that's my little input, I hope it helps.

Cheers,

Jeff Gray
