AT 10.5 lbs or so I think the gun is a bit light for .500 NE, which is one of the reasons I went with the .470. Or you could buy the .500 and add weight, but possibly effecting the balance adversely.
IMHO a very nice double for the price. As others have noted the shortcoming is the recoil pad, which I have supplemented for now with a slip-on KICK-EEZ, much more comfortable for repeated shooting at the range, without adding too much to the LOP.
The recoil pad is the least of the short comings.
The pot luck as to whether the one you get shoots or not and the grinding of the mussel / crowns to regulate the gun is the other.
