I'll throw my support for medium bore doubles. I know I'll never hunt the Big Five, so I settled on a fine, but very shootable and effective .35 Winchester H&H. It will fire a 250 grain projectile at 2340 fps, and a 200 grain at 2470 fps which will dispatch any game I'll every encounter. At 8 lbs, it's a real joy to carry as well.
