I shot whitetails last year with a 9/3x74R Chapuis and with a .470 Ne Searcy. Was using cast bullets in the Searcy. Both worked fine, with less meat damage than a 150 gr bullet propelled by a .308 Win. Also shot a pig in Texas with the Chapuis. Would suggest a better bullet that the 270 gr Speer is in order, as they seem to come apart too easily. Going with Noslers and Woodleighs this year. Doubles work great. As long as your willing to carry it and understand your capabilities versus range I recommend the experience. |
