Dear Kamilaroi....a friend drew my attention to your remarks. (edited) OK, tell ya what...print a picture of each of these engravers work, take it to Bruce, and see if he gives you a pat on the back for having made the remarks you did. I knew Lynton McKenzie, (though not well) and I know Bruce Dean very well, and I know for sure that neither of these men would sit at their computer casting vague aspersions on the work of others. And its this vagueness that is not only unfair, but lends an air of (edited) self agrandisment to your post. Perhaps you could legitimise your position with some more specific critisism? Mmm? Mind you, you really should then enlighten us all as to how you would remedy the failings as noted. I hope your advice isn't going to involve more time being spent, because I think, no actually, I know that you will still want it for the same price. Do you have the faintest idea of the hours and expertise that Bailley Bradshaw would have put in to achieve that level of finish and definition on his relief scroll? Or what was required on Roland's part to simply arrive at the layout for his pictured work, let alone excecute it? Nuh, I doubt it....even if you think you do. Incidently, Bruce is amazing with his ambidextrous use of a graver isn't he. Weirdly enough though, I do see the odd round and true scroll cut by those of us not blessed with that facility. However, it could be that I just don't know what I should be looking for. If you could give us all a few pointers on this as well, then I know we'll all wait with bated breath. In short Rick, (edited) Get in there, give up your job, come and make a living as we do with nothing but our expertise experience and dedication. I know you'll love it....you're a natural. Damien Connolly. (Post edited by NitroX to remove some comments. Gentlemen, let us please get back to the topic of engraving, examples, and examples of work in progress etc. Thanks everyone. ) |
