Ray, I had an 8 pound 458 and with full factory 510 grain loads, I considered the recoil mild. Now the 470 has about the same energy with a bit less velocity. My new Searcy (about 2 months away now) at ten pounds certainly cannot be as potent as the 8 pound 458. While not wussy, it cannot be as bad as you suggest.
