CaptCurl is one of the several very knowledgeable people on this website where double rifles are concerned, and the whole post that surrounds the quote above is spot on.
The part of the quote above that is printed in bold is absolutely true in regard to a "PERFECT" regulating load. However that load is almost impossible to find precisely as well! That being said the best we can hope to come by is a load that is very close and settle. With this in mind, for another load that uses a lighter, or heavier bullet other than the sweet spot load, there is no reason it is not possible, with a very careful search, to find a workable load other than the sweet spot load. IMO, the reason people report brighter horizons in regard to these loads is because they have found them over time, sometimes because of the lack of certain powders, or bullets. Necessity is the mother of invention!
