Re: Westly & Richards 500 Nitro

The proof marks date the rifle between 1887 and 1903. These dates are consistent with the advent of the .500NE in the 1890's, and the proof marks are consistent with such a rifle.

It looks to have no finish left on the action and locks with evidence of former rust pitting and polishing. The high-gloss underlever is clearly re-blacked, as is the forend iron and certainly the barrels.

Other than these observations, the photos provide no further detail. I doubt the bores are "like new".

If the bores are good and serviceable, the ribs still tight, the wood sound with no cracks or oil saturation, and if the rifle is tight and on the face I would say it would retail for about $7,500 in the U.S. That's a wild guess, because the photos are grossly insufficient to evaluate the rifle. Only an end-user should pay that amount, not a re-seller.

It looks like a hard-used working gun that's been tarted up for sale.

JMHO

Normally a seller places a price on his wares and doesn't ask others to do so.

P.S. I just looked again to see if it has rebounding locks but cannot tell positively. They look like they may be non-rebounding locks. If so, the rifle will sell for less than I have just said.
