I'll put a price on it from $8,500 to $9,500.00. Possibly $10,500 on the higher end. I base those figures on 3 underlever hammer-guns I have bought and sold in the past two years. One was a Army-Navy 450-400 3 1/4 NE that George sold for me. I realized $8,000.00 from the sale. It had border engraving and was spot on for condition with perfect bores. No color case but polished, very clean and great stock and checkering. A little heavy for caliber, though. The second was a Rigby 450 3 1/4 NE that George sold for me as well. It brought me 8K if memory serves. Frosting in the bores and condition was in need of recolor-casing/barrel bluing and touching up the stock. However, It shot point of aim 1.9 to 2.3 inch groups all day with original Kynoch. Several groups touching. Third rifle was a Rigby 450-400 3 1/4 BPE beautiful light rifle that shot 3/4 inch at 50 yards to point-of-aim and an honest 1.3 to 1.5 at 100 yards with lead 255 grainer's and 44 (if memory serves) grains of 4198. Bought it at Las Vegas for $7,500 and sold it through George for $8,000.00. Wish I had all three back again. But then I could not have taken a trip to Tanz. So there is my 2 cents worth. Not knowing condition of the bores of twendesafaris's 500 NE and not sure if the stated date of manufacture is correct, which pre-dates the 500 NE as well as other possible condition problems not apparent through the pics.
