Poprivit: I can't respond to your comments with respect to your Blaser .500/.416. Although I have a .500/.416, it is a Krieghoff. I have had zero problems with it and love the caliber. In that gun, I have been shooting both Bell and Jamison brass. With respect to your Blaser .470, I would like to gently suggest to you that your crossing problem was because of your loads or your ammo, not the gun. Blaser 470s are regulated with Wolfgang Romney ammunition. As near as I can tell, that ammunition falls perfectly within the Kynoch window and not the new, faster 2150 fps out of a a 24 inch barrel standard. Kyonch ammo runs 2125 but that is out of a 31 inch barrel. That ammo will regulate closer to 2000-2050 fps out of a 25 inch barrel which is right where most vintage guns regulate. My .470 would not regulate with Hornady ammunition. It was just too fast. When I slowed it down and found the right loads, I found that it shoots like gangbusters. I have had no issues with the wood. As I indicated, I like my gun and I am sorry that you had such a bad experience with your S2. Good luck and good hunting. Dave |
