As many have mentioned the .450 has lots of projectile choices. That is why I bought a .450 no2 ten years ago. It shoots Hornady 500-grain bullets into 2 inches at 50 yards over a standing rest. I buy dozens of boxes of these at gun shows from folks who bought a .458 or .460 and it kicked too much and they sell everything on the cheap! For what it is worth--I have examined dozens of vintage and new doubles when researching my book on the .600s. I think the VC is the best bang for the buck in a new double today. That is not to put the others down--they are all good--but the locking system on the VC won't shoot loose AND where can you get a new .600 for less than 23K? I like and only own vintage British doubles but if I were to buy a new one for utility use the VC would be my choice. Lots of doubles and double info on my website. Enjoy. Cal |
